pure reason revolution – “goeshen’s remains”

PRR is a pretty undergroundish European progressive-rock band that I really wanted to like– especially based on this song. While this song seamlessly flows from one great musical idea from the other and bounces the vocals from the equally capable bro/broad, the rest of their catalog isn’t nearly as elegant or tightly written.

“Art-rock dinosaurs” King Crimson tear the motherfucker down on 1974′s mostly live album, “Starless & Bible Black.”

dungen – “satt att se”

You might not guess it on the first listen, but swedish progressive/psychadelic rock group Dungen (pronounced doon-yen) formed as recently as 1999.  This is the first track on their most recent (and certainly best titled) album “4.”

casa das maquinas – “vou morar no ar”

Brazilian progressive rock, huh?  Give it a chance.  With their 1975 masterpiece “Lar de Maravilhas,”  Casa das Maquinas did for brazil what Yes and King Crimson did for the UK and US.  Frankly, I think it’s a big plus that I can’t understand the lyrics too.  It lets you hear the vocals as an instrument, without any pretentious message.
