the flaming lips – “the w.a.n.d.” (live)

December 3, 2009 Leave a comment

This song is concentrated empowerment, and empowerment is always a dish better served with a bunch of stranger hippies, strobe lights and gratuitous smoke. The W.A.N.D, which according to some liner notes rather adorably stands for “The Will Always Negates Defeat!”, is the surest way outside of recreational methamphetamine to get your self completely amped to just do something and succeed.

When Wayne invariably falls into a firepit after fighting a balrog only to return as Wayne Coyne the White, this is the song he’ll use to rally oppressed youth from across the world to create some kind of Stonertopia; toppling nations and triggering spontaneous orgies.

rjd2 – “breezeblock mix”

December 1, 2009 Leave a comment

I caught a listen of RJD2′s new single this morning– on a scale from one to five, I think I have to give it a solid Projectile Vomit. Am I too much of a nostalgic bastard for still reminiscing about the good old days? You know, when you could buy a Coke for a nickel and RJD2 didn’t write generic synth-pop take makes everyone’s vagina in a one mile radius blubber. I doubt those two chronologically coincide, but that’s definitely how long it feels since RJ has dropped anything with a respectable beat.

I think jamesob told me about this a-ways back, but my buddy Andrew reminded me of it: a 30 minute jam-sess where RJd2 runs a marathon through his own songs and a few mash-ups of other artists, including Jethro Tull’s “Cross Eyed Mary”. I think if any of these trendy new mash-up douche-bags like Girl Talk or the Super Mash Brothers touched a burned copy of this they would melt into a puddle, Wicked Witch style.

justice – “phantom pt.2″ (live)

November 18, 2009 Leave a comment

Justice. Rage. Best song off the LIVE album. This is the greatest thing in the universe. The French got one thing right with their music. If your ever in the mood to lets say, burn your whole goddamn town to the ground, put this live album (A Cross the Universe) on and let the rioting begin. I cannot begin to explain the pole-smokers who are drawn to you, along with the fact that you will be absolutely raging when Phantom pt.2 comes in hot on the speakers. All humans and most likely extra-terrestrials ball outrageous to Justice.  I honestly can’t find one person who does not like this song.

Let there be two things you take away from this post:

A) No matter how hard you go to this song you cannot get arrested. It is actually against the law to not break something when this comes on.

B) You will have the most fun in your entire life when you play this song and just let it go, a.k.a, bust down your neighbors front door. Bottom line, do a Gargoyle while this on is and you can pretty much declare yourself Napoleon of bangers. GET SOME!

Special Happy Birthday to Baseball Bob!

justice – “D.A.N.C.E.” (live remix)

November 12, 2009 Leave a comment

I absolutely love this song. Its everyone’s favorite generic Justice song that they remixed live on tour and it’s outrageous. Half way through the song some dime will be taking her pants off while your chugging straight from the mandatory bottle of vodka this song demands. Good way to start off the night right? You may not remember doing so, but at the end the night play some live Justice tracks–  if you thought the slut you started the night off with was worthy of slaying, well get ready for the Jesus of Pole Crushers to wake up next to the morning. Justice and chugging vodka always does the trick, sluts cant help but love that shit its like a fucking scientific fact.

God I love french music.

beastie boys x daft punk x capsule – “Starry Sky YEAH!” (mashup)

November 11, 2009 Leave a comment

This will undoubtedly be the biggest ragefest this site will ever see, even taking into account keyley’s limp-dick offerings. Its a mash-up between the Beastie Boys “Check it Out”, Daft Punk‘s “Technologic”, some J-pop duo named Capsule‘s “Starry Sky”. I wouldn’t be surprised if the audio of a Leviathan being slain by Megatron was also mashed in via backmasking to subtly make it that much more bangarang.

I first heard this remix in NYC after stumbling upon a yo-yo tourney at the Manhattan harbor; in which we watched an asian guys jettisoning two oversized yo-yo’s at a breakneck pace through his legs and and behind his head, the entire time silently implying that he might go Super Sajiyan. These acrobatics married with this song at the time gave me what I’ve come to expect if I live to experience The Apocolypse.

also: J-pop stars singing “I’ve sinned for you” may rank alongside European Harris Teeter deli jockey’s as one of the sexiest things in the world.
